Carolyn’s Mission: “The Chinese proverb and curse says, ‘May you live in interesting times’.” In the first decade of the twenty-first century, we live in profound uncertainty, faced with issues unprecedented in the history of the human race. Truth To Power seeks to provide readers with a ‘fixed point in a changing universe’ that both informs and supports humanity’s efforts to remake the world—both our personal worlds and our planet. My intention is to offer a beacon of light in the smothering darkness with which we seem to be engulfed, making available information and specific ideas and strategies which we all might utilize as we experience the life/death/rebirth process inherent in the inner and outer realms of our current reality.”

Dealing with Truth
|
|
What seems to spook people now is the possibility
that everybody in charge of everything is a
fraud or a crook. Legitimacy has left the system.
James Howard Kuntsler

Dr. Janice Dorn writes, “There is a contagious epidemic of lies spreading all over the world, and it starts with rot at the highest levels of government. We are drowning in a cesspool of lies. All you have to do is open your eyes and ears. The litany of lies is everywhere. Even those who are doing everything possible to lead lives of radical honesty will slip and catch themselves in a lie. Maybe it’s a “little white lie” or something that is euphemistically called an “error of omission” or a “slip of the tongue.” Nonetheless, a lie is a lie. Why do people lie? Because they can.” 1
|
The first and most basic answer to the world’s problems is the truth. Not subjective relative truth but truth itself. All solutions to all problems lie in the truth of the problem. In the truth is the solution. Without the truth we are lost, swimming in a sea of contradictions and arguments. Without truth we have untruths, lies, deception, and a sea of pain and suffering that goes on without end. Truth is what can set our courses straight in life and this is as true on a personal level as it is on an international one.

There appears to be no limit to the sneaky
slimy cesspool of deception that runs
through the financial markets and our society.

“Why is the press misleading the public about housing and just about everything else that is happening in the world? The housing market is crashing. Still, whenever new housing figures are released, they’re crunched and tweaked and spin-dried until they tell a totally different story; a hopeful story about an elusive "light in the tunnel". But there is no light in the tunnel; it’s dark as pitch as far as the eye can see. There’s no sign of a turnaround or a "bottom" in housing at all. The real estate market is freefalling and it looks like it’s got a long way to go. So why are the media still peddling the same "rose-colored" claptrap that put the country in this pickle to begin with,” writes Mike Whitney.

The last duty of a central banker
is to tell the public the truth.
Alan Blinder
Vice Chairman of the Federal Reserve
The core reasons for the problems we are witnessing today are namely that people always try to somehow deny the dark side of their nature and the nature of the institutions that civilization is based on. We deny truth on every level, even the truth of our and other people’s feelings. Denial leads to deception and deceit opening the door for reality to fall in on us. In the end is the truth and even denial will lead us back to it because there is simply no choice. Reality is the bedrock of the universe and truth is that bedrock. Truth and reality are one and the same thing.

President Barack Obama assertion that
his proposed budget "will cut the deficit
in half by the end of my first term" is true?
|
Eventually we have to deal with the kind and level of truth that has the power to transform not only people but also society and the world. We are talking about potent truths, ones that probe around with our deepest identifications of being human and social beings. We are talking about the kind of truths that emerge only at certain intense times in history. It does not emerge when everything is just kind of humming along like it did in the nineties. It seems unfortunate but true that things will have to get worse before they get better, a whole lot worse. Why because we are still not paying attention to the type of truths I am alluding to here. The kind of truth, for instance, that shows us the terrible state of communication and listening in our race and what to do about it.
|
One of the problems with the truth is that there is no single definition that a majority of professional philosophers and scholars agree on, and various theories of truth continue to be debated. The word truth does have a variety of associated meanings from honesty, good faith, and sincerity in general, to agreement with fact or reality in particular. And it is true that when we throw the truth out the window out goes our sincerity, honesty and good faith.
|
The U.S. Government has mastered the magician's art of illusion.
They've become experts in crafting a distortion of reality. They
certainly do not want to see the long term consequences of their actions.
|
The absolute nature of truth is so distasteful to some, who embrace the subjective nature of perception. For some objectivity actually ceases to exist as a possibility; and with that all truth is banned from the human field of experience. The first problem with truth is that there is always going to be someone to argue against the truth. And the real truth about truth is, even those who love the truth have a hard time applying the truth or accepting every truth about their own lives. Truth, ultimate truth, whatever it may be, is tough meat. It is unending and ever becoming, it’s a living process of discovery that never stops.
|
We will not see the truth until we are forced to see it.
We will not see the truth until things get very painful.
|
With everything that is going on in the world you would think there is enough to awaken us but is anyone even thinking of getting into the roots of the worlds conflicts? Is it possible to rethink our predominant paradigms and awaken to something new, a new way of being and living in the world? Are we already at the end of our evolutionary development as a species? Or is there some potential of being, some new way that will emerge as a light that will pierce the gathering clouds of darkness? Things are not looking too good when you look deep. We seem to be doomed to endlessly repeat our mistakes.
|
Objective truths exist independent of our subjective natures and our opinions and beliefs about things. We can believe whatever we want and as passionately as we please but believing something is so does not necessarily make it so, though it is true that lies become truth to people who believe in the absolute truth of their beliefs.
|
“The Industrial Age allowed for obfuscation of information and inefficiencies of epic proportions. It will be during the Information Age that there is a return to all things real. There is no concealing of a plane crash while its passengers are Twittering. The instantaneous transmission of information around the globe is putting tremendous strain on the inherently unsound, unstable and immoral financial and monetary system. Indeed, the Internet pulls back the curtain and reveals the true state of things. Because of the grotesque mal-investment and the painful nature of a credit contraction it is natural for The Onion to report that Americans just want to be lied to about the economy. But it is the lies that are being dissipated. Reality is barrelling down the tracks whether you want it to or not,” writes Trace Mayer.
|
We have allowed ourselves to lose the habit of using our reason. The politicians and the
media are taking it upon themselves to delude us into believing everything, for instance,
delude us into believing that migratory birds in Asia have been infected with an
extremely dangerous, deadly virus. These mortally diseased birds then keep flying for
weeks on end. They fly thousands of kilometres, and then in Romania, in Turkey,
Greece and elsewhere infect hens, geese or other poultry, with which they have
had no contact, and which within a very short time get diseased and die.
Dr. Stephan Lanka

The intuitive level of perception, that level championed by Albert Einstein, who said, “I think with intuition,” is a level of perception that can only deal with truth. Intuition is a yes no type of perceptual ability and functions only with our openness to sensing or feeling the truth of any given situation. When diviners search for underground water, they walk around with their divining rod asking the question, “is there water here, is there water here.” If they are professional they will get a yes response when there really is water lying underneath their feet. Such professionals at finding water are trusted enough with the information gained that practical people will then go ahead and invest money drilling wells. The water is either there or it is not and of course the test comes when the hole is drilled.
|
If you are a person of truth and you hear the truth it kind of excites you. Truth has the tendency to move us one way or another, in a good or bad way. If you are responsive and sensitive to truth in a good way you end up wanting to do something about it. You are receptive to it, which means you are open to making some kind of change in attitude and behaviour.
|
What kind of effect does truth have on people who are not of the truth? It disturbs them plenty because they are self-righteously set in their ways, stubborn, inflexible, selfish, and unwilling to do anything to change for they do not want to see any reason for change. Such people immediately want to get rid of any person who proclaims the truth because any such truth becomes like a thorn in their side, a thorn to be pulled and discarded with distaste. The truth, if we are not living it, is almost unbearable to hear.
|
|
We reject it, or if we don’t reject it, we reject the person who speaks it and we try to get rid of that person. People who are not of the truth, who have no love for it, are so disturbed by it that they react and lash out. For this reason it is a big risk to stand up for truth, with our lovers, family and friends, and with life and society as a whole for what comes back is not always pretty.
|
Truth Speaks in Thunder as in Silence
Sometimes it is in tune to speak out forcibly,
confronting what we see and feel.
And sometimes it is better to remain silent
and in our center of peace surrendering
to what the cosmic will is willing.
The heart of true wisdom is to know the difference.
|
Mixing up our beliefs with truth is a mistake though it is often difficult to know what the truth is. For instance it is difficult to know the absolute truth of events that happened two thousand years ago. It is difficult to know what really happened in the life of Jesus and his family. The best we can do is to open our minds to all the possible facts and information and get a feel from that. Blind belief sabotages such a process; creates fear and inhibits the search for knowledge and truth.
|
The concept of perception versus reality is an
extremely important distinction in the current
economic cycle and circumstances of the moment.
Brian Pretti

Professor of the First Amendment at Harvard University, Frederick Schauer argues that: “Just as Adam Smith’s ‘invisible hand’ will ensure that the best products emerge from free competition, so too will an invisible hand ensure that the best ideas emerge when all opinions are permitted freely to compete”. Not only will the best ideas emerge in such an environment, but competition will ensure that, from the best ideas, the truest ideas will win acceptance. Unfortunately this has not been the case in modern times thus one more basic reason our civilization is at risk.
|
The hardest thing to understand about truth has to do with love and the nature of our own hearts. Modern man has discarded his heart nature in favour of his cognitive function. The mind has little problem in living in denial and lying about whatever. But this is not the nature of the human heart which can only see the light of day when we live in truth. Why? Because the heart is the truth! The foundation of our true nature is found in the heart not the mind. The heart is our organ of truth because it cannot stand to be with anything but truth. That’s why an infidelity is so devastating. It the lie and the deceit that kills the relationship and the moment we start hiding things from the one we love we separate not only from them but from our own heart which just cannot tolerate falsity.
|
|
This is the first chapter I am publishing from my new book Into The Ashes, which is about civilization collapse or the type of civilization that will continue to get more cruel because of a lack of a collapse. The truth is in retreat and dark nights of the soul will become more common experiences. Actually we have been living in the dark ages of medicine and we really cannot see the light of day for fairness and justice in finance or economics. The terrorism of the military and the war on drugs are just part of the ugliness of spirit of our present institutions, which will go on for a thousand years or crumble now. Because zillions and trillions are just numbers beyond our comprehension eventually the present system will vaporize. What rapids of turmoil, catastrophe and change we will endure will vary greatly depending on who you are and where you live and who you live with. If we are ever to build something for a sane future we have to deal nakedly with hard truths. The Phoenix will never rise on the sands of falsity. This book is about the Phoenix, about visions of human angels eventually learning their lessons and about world leadership being a representation of the best, not the worst of us.
